Always Look On The Bright Side

If life seems jolly rotten,
There’s something you’ve forgotten,
And that’s to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you’re feeling in the dumps,
Don’t be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle.
That’s the thing.

– Monty Python

I wrote a different blog this week with the intention of posting it this morning, but it just didn’t feel right. So instead I’m going to tell you about my week. There were some highs &  meh moments, but nothing too dire to report. Much of the week is a blur, so I can’t really assign a day to an event anymore, but here’s the short story.

On the “meh” side of things, my computer keeps making me want to back over it. Again & again & again, in a monster truck rally kind of way. Siri has stopped working on my less than a year old phone this week as well. I am not having a good week with technology. There are always “those” clients that fall into this category too. May we all have them, but not be them 😉

People, on the other hand, that’s a different story! Shout out to my wife (who may or may not read this) who has been holding down the fort all week as I work until the wee hours of the morning each night. Additional praise to her for believing Valentine’s Day is a cash grab, so I don’t have to remotely try to shop for the 14th!

On to other wonderful people. My new KAM! That’s right, I now have a Key Account Manager to help me manage my workload. She’s smart, funny, personable & we have worked together for years in different capacities, but now she’s designated to help me (hopefully) get closer to a 9-5 job. Since Monday she has wowed me multiple times with her quick reaction time &  her ability to anticipate my next move.

Up next in the great people category, friends who are hockey parents of older kids! Seriously, every time a friend who has a teen is willing to impart some of their knowledge on me about the politics of the game, what to do & what not to do, I appreciate it greatly. My wife and I know quite a bit of stuff, but kids hockey navigation is not one of those things.

Last, but definitely not least, my amazing clients!!! The ones who call & we talk about how they’re too swamped to breathe right now too. The ones who I know where they’re going on vacation & how their kids are doing at school. Each one of those conversations makes each day a little better & even though I’m technically still working, it feels like a break for 15 minutes. Thank you all for that.

Rounding out the good this week, all the ice is going to melt overnight tonight, the Raptors made a great trade today & Auston Matthews signed a contract. Does it get any better than this? It probably does, but sometimes you have to look on the bright side.
